February 16, 2011, 8:00 pm On Autobiography and Fiction Writing: An Evening with Jonathan Franzen (Faculty Lectureships )Author of the award-winning international best-seller The Corrections, Franzen returned to the best-seller list with his most recent novel, Freedom. His lecture will investigate the personal dynamics of fiction-writing by addressing four perennial questions that novelists are asked: Who are your influences? What time of day do you work, and what do you write on? I read an interview with an author who says that,at a certain point in writing a novel, the characters 'take over' and tell him what to do. Does this happen to you too? And Is your fiction autobiographical? Location: Rosse Hall Auditorium Sponsor: Faculty Lectureships Contact: Susan Spaid Email: spaids@kenyon.edu Phone: 740.427-5650 |
