Join the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in a discussion of indigenous queer and trans identities during Native American Heritage Month.
ODEI will be screening the documentary, "Two Spirits," which discusses the cultural significance of two-spirit people in Navajo culture. In this film, this is discussed through the story of a mother, who lost her two-spirit child in an act of anti-LGBTQ violence. The film mourns the loss of life, while also offering an important discussion of cultural acceptance for two-spirit people.
For more information on the film, visit PBS at pbs.org/independentlens/films/two-spirits.
Content warning: This film both discusses and alludes to acts of anti-LGBTQ violence in addition to historical and cultural information about two-spirit people in indigenous culture.
