The Art of Trees program explores the vital and redemptive role of trees in affirming shared human experiences and restoring our kinship with nature. Critically analyzing how we appreciate, live with, use, destroy and represent trees in life, art, science and the humanities, this speaker series will interrogate our changing relationship with the natural world in the midst of environmental crisis.
As senior landscape architect and vice president for design at the Collaborative, Kaye Lynn Johnson’s work moves people toward a more harmonious and respectful relationship with nature. She will discuss her master plan and design for the historic Bartram's Garden along the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, considered to be the first botanical garden in the United States. The master plan interweaves the garden's history with modern needs and functions.
A public reception will be held in the Fischman Lobby from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
