Over the past decade, the MFA has slowly been renovating its "ancient wing" — from a sculpture hall and a coin cabinet to a room dedicated to the theme of daily life in ancient Greece. The next phase is its most ambitious yet: three galleries dedicated to early Greek art, gods and goddesses in the classical world, and Byzantine art. Curator Laure Marest discusses the challenges and opportunities presented by the project.
Marest is the Cornelius and Emily Vermeule Assistant Curator, Greek and Roman Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
This event is cosponsored by the Department of Art History and the Mesaros Art Fund.
