The Toni Morrison Society is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. As part of this celebration, they have invited groups to participate in a read-in celebrating the work of Toni Morrison and Wole Soyinka, the two black, living Nobel Laureates in literature. This event is also a great way to celebrate black history and Toni Morrison's 87th birthday, which is on February 18.
Bring your favorite passage from one of these writers if you have one, or just come and listen, or read some of the work that we'll have on hand. There will be light refreshments.
This year, Black History Month events honor Kenyon's first two African American graduates, Stanley L. Jackson '52 and Allen B. Ballard Jr. '52. The events are sponsored by the Black Student Union, the Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and the Gund Gallery.
