Did you know that LGBTQ+ people are statistically more likely be smokers, compared to their straight, cisgender peers? By partnering with Kenyon, the Knox County Health Department wants to address that public health disparity in our county.
Join Mike Whitaker — the Knox County Health Department's nicotine treatment specialist — and a group of your peers for an interest group meeting. This meeting will help to determine if hosting a LGBTQ+ focused nicotine cessation group on campus is a needed resource.
In this group, attendees will learn strategies to quit smoking and/or vaping, and they'll have the opportunity to network with peers, who are also interested in qutting. Free cessation resources, such as nicotine counseling and nicotene patches, will be available for attendees.
For more LGBTQ+ specific information on how to quit using nicotine, check out the following link: smokefree.gov/lgbt-and-smoking.
