Joan Soriano is a star of the bachata music scene. His performances are packing theaters and dance halls the world over. What distinguishes Joan from other bachateros of his generation is a dedication to bachata's cultural roots. His band, La Familia Soriano, is a collaboration with his two sisters and brother. Their music captures the intimacy and playfulness of their upbringing in the hills of Monte Plata, where the young Sorianos learned to dance to the rhythm of bachata in their mother's arms. Their most recent album, La Familia Soriano, debuted on the Billboard Tropical Albums chart at #3, and #27 on the Top Latin Albums chart. Joan has received praise from the likes of NPR, the New York Times, and International Public Radio.
