Show and Tell by the Students of Physics 103
Abstract: HOBBY ELECTRONICS used to be the domain of a small number of hackers - ham radio operators, radio-controlled airplane enthusiasts, amateur robotics experts, and other technologically-minded tinkerers - but all that has changed since the advent of the Arduino microcontroller platform and the growth of the "maker" community. Students in Physics 103 have spent the semester learning to program Arduino microcontrollers and assemble, control, and debug electronic and mechanical components to make nifty gadgets. Some of their creations move, others light up, several play music, and one even throws things! Curious? Come see what they have wrought!
